• 06 March 2008: Local Government Minister John Healey announces that the two unitary option for Bedfordshire has been approved
  
  
• 28 March 2008: Bedfordshire (Structural Changes) Order comes into force
  
  
• 10 April 2008: First Shadow Council and Shadow Executive meetings
  
  
• 22 April 2008: Transistional Task Forces set up
  
  
• 04 July 2008: Complete draft service plans
  
  
• 31 December 2008: Finalise staffing structures
  
  
• 26 February 2009: Establish new constitution  and set budget
  
  
• 02 March 2009: Approve budget for new council
  
  
• 11 March 2009: Council tax billing
  
  
• 01 April 2009: Vesting day
  
  
• 04 June 2009: Elections (to be confirmed)
  
  
• End June 2009: Inaugural meeting of the new council
